Study tour of a delegation from Bangladesh

"Learning from each and promoting exchange” – a concept that the most recent study tour from Bangladesh proved to be successful also at management levels. At the end of March, a group composed of high-level participants from the Bangladesh Bank (the Central Bank of Bangladesh) and the Ministry of Finance (Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh) visited German institutions in the scope of a project financed by JICA to foster small and marginalized farmers by providing access to finance. The tour was organized by ADG and supported by AFC.

Throughout the week, participants discussed about current strategies and projects of bilateral cooperation with stakeholders of the German International Cooperation such as the Ministry of Development (BMZ) and Development Agency (KfW, GiZ).

Discussion on the functioning and the peculiar structures of each organization evolved with the respective counterparts from the European as well as the German Central Bank and the German Supervisory authority.

DZ Bank (3rd largest German commercial bank), the Agricultural Development Bank (landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank) and the Ministry of Agriculture (BMEL) provided some in-depth insights into the activities to support and further develop the agricultural sector in Germany.

During a business breakfast with the South Asian parliamentary group of the German Bundestag the participants discussed current cooperation, views and perspectives of the German parliament on the bilateral relation.

An intense and positive exchange for all parties involved and a “glimpse of Germany” for the visitors of one of the most densely populated and climate change affected countries of the world.
